Hours:On call from Friday night 8pm through Monday morning 8am.

Responsibilities

The Certified Home Health Aide is a member of the health care team who provides assistance to patients with personal care, activities of daily living and maintenance and management of household routines when called.  Responsibilities can also include, but are not limited to:

 

  1. Available to begin new patient or cover sick call within 1 hour of being contacted.
  2. Attitude of pride and professionalism. Is accountable for actions and environment.  Looks for opportunities to improve performance.
  3. Communicate completely at all times. Listens attentively and clarifies understanding.  Explains what is happening.
  4. Respects privacy and confidentiality. Is sensitive to patient’s culture and spiritual needs. Is considerate of others.
  5. Initiates action and obtains resolution. Responds promptly, professionally and patiently.  Works collaboratively.
  6. Nurture by supporting all patients. Acts with courtesy, care, concern and compassion.  Educates others by sharing knowledge and expertise.
  7. Greets patients in a friendly and welcoming manner. Creates a positive first impression.  Smiles, projects a positive attitude.
  8. Through the continuous improvement of standards of practice and by providing a safe and secure environment the patient will be assured a sense of safety and well being, free from risk and harm.
  9. Attendance/Tardiness: contributes to the effectiveness of the department/unit by remaining within the acceptable standard of the Agency’s Attendance/Tardiness Control Policy.
  10. Follows the Plan of Care as developed by the Registered Nurse.
  11. Assists with assigned personal care tasks.
  12. Assists with activities of daily living.
  13. Assists the patient in performing bowel/bladder functions.
  14. Assists patients with mobility.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent

 

Professional Experience:

  • Current CHHA license in the State of New Jersey
  • 1 year of related work experience
  • Must be available from  from Friday night 8pm through Monday morning 8am.
